Though temperatures don’t reflect it, summer 2023 is winding down which can only mean one thing – it’s back to school season! As we drift towards the end of summer, families begin preparing to send children back for another school year. However, with inflation still higher than normal, many families face challenges getting everything their kids need for the school year.
This year, we teamed up with some of Atlanta’s best and our long-time partners to help families secure everything they need for the school year, from groceries and meals to school supplies and some final summer fun. Keep reading to learn more about how we utilized our Hunger Relief Solutions with Lil Baby, Kandi Burruss’ Kandi Cares Foundation, Mike WiLL Made-It’s Making Wishes Matter Foundation, and Quality Control Music to ease the burden on families and students ahead of the new school year.
Lil Baby’s Annual Back to School Fest
For the second year in a row, multi-platinum, GRAMMY Award-winning recording artist Lil Baby hosted his annual back-to-school festival at The Mall West End. To ensure 3,000 Atlanta students were ready for the new school year, he bought out Foot Locker and American Deli in the mall. Students received free clothes, meals, shoes, backpacks, school supplies, haircuts, and more. After collecting their back-to-school supplies, students and their families enjoyed food trucks, carnival rides, and games.
Lil Baby invited the Goodr team to the festival, and 2e brought out our new Mobile Grocery Store with us. Stocked with everyone’s favorite snacks, we made sure the kids had all the best goodies to enjoy after school or on weekends.
Kandi Cares Back to School Pop-Up
Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter, TV personality, and entrepreneur Kandi Burruss and her foundation, Kandi Cares, tapped our team once again to give back to Atlanta area families ahead of our new school year. With the support of Nouveaux and Garner Trial Attorneys, this partnership came in the form of two back-to-school giveaways with the Goodr Mobile Grocery Store.We stocked our Mobile Grocery Store with snacks and easy to prepare grocery items and backpacks and school supplies. Over the two stops, the kids and their families got to shop for whatever they wanted to prepare for the first day of school. The giveaways provided 500 children with backpacks full of school supplies and Goodr Student Snackpacks, which give children easy to prepare snacks for after school and on weekends.
Making Wishes Matter Back to School
While we’ve partnered with Mike WiLL Made-It’s Making Wishes Matter Foundation to support families during the holidays, we had the opportunity to work with them again and help 150 families get ready for the 2023 school year. Families were able to shop on the Goodr Mobile Grocery Store for free school supplies, groceries, and snacks. Once families stocked up on all their supplies, they were able to enjoy Italian ice, face painting, games and activities. Thank you, Making Wishes Matter, for working with us to support over 150 Atlanta families.
Quality Control’s Back to School Old Navy Takeover
To kick off back to school season, we teamed up with our friends at Quality Control Music again to provide to some relief to metro Atlanta families in need. Quality Control Music chose to host its annual QC Back to School Bash in a big way. Once again, we took over Old Navy in a local Atlanta shopping center. During the takeover, 500 kids received new backpacks, school supplies, and much more! We were on-site with our Mobile Grocery Sore so that the kids had their pick of snacks for after school and the weekends. We recognize how important it is for students to start the school year off strong. Having the proper supplies and access to nutritious food helps students focus and bring their all to the classroom. Thanks to a few of our amazing long-term partners we were able to do Goodr for thousands of students and their families ahead of the new school year.
