Verizon, Total by Verizon & Goodr Team Up to Tackle Hunger in Las Vegas During Big Game Week

Free Mobile Grocery Store Tour Provided More Than 20,000 Meals to Local Families

Verizon, Total by Verizon, and Goodr, a hunger and food waste solutions company, joined forces to bring Goodr’s free Mobile Grocery Store to Las Vegas leading up to the Big Game.

Goodr’s Mobile Grocery Store made three stops and served 500 families across the city before Sunday’s game. The free shopping experiences allowed pre-registered families to shop for a week’s worth of groceries on the truck – including meat, seafood, eggs, dairy, bread, fresh produce, shelf-stable items, and more.

The truck visited multiple locations around the Las Vegas area during Big Game week:

Wednesday, February 7 – 2:00 – 5:00 p.m.
Las Vegas Indian Center
2300 W Bonanza Rd, Las Vegas, NV 89106

Thursday, February 8 – 2:00 – 5:00 p.m.
Cashman Park
3100 S Warnock Rd., Las Vegas

Saturday, February 10 – 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Chicanos Por La Causa
555 N Maryland Pkwy, Las Vegas, NV 89101

The Mobile Grocery Store stops on Wednesday and Thursday benefited the city’s Indigenous and senior populations, respectively, while Saturday’s mobile stop served families. Saturday’s event also featured a DJ and funnel cakes from Braud’s Funnel Cake Café – an official vendor at this year’s Big Game.

The events came as Las Vegas hosts its first Big Game, drawing more than 300K visitors and generating more than $500M in revenue. While visitors flew in from all over to attend the game, many Las Vegas residents struggle to make ends meet. The poverty level is 14.9%, which is 2.3% above the national average (12.6%). According to Three Square, Clark County, which includes the greater Las Vegas Valley, has an average food insecurity rate of almost 15%. The Historic Westside zip code has the highest rate in the valley, with more than one in four residents experiencing food insecurity. The pop-up grocery store brought much-needed relief to Vegas families.

The Mobile Grocery Store tour is just one way Verizon and Total by Verizon are connected with and giving back to the Las Vegas community. Verizon has reached over 250,000 small businesses across the Las Vegas area through its Small Business Digital Ready platform. Community businesses like Braud’s Funnel Cake Cafe have used the free platform to access over 40 online courses, mentorship opportunities with industry experts, peer networking events, 1:1 expert coaching and more through its Skill Forward program. Total by Verizon, a new and fast-growing prepaid carrier from Verizon, is excited to join forces with Verizon and Goodr to give back to its value-conscious consumers in the region.
